20250810 영화 “좀비 딸” The Movie "Zombie Daughter“을 보고.
말복, 마지막 더위가 기승을 부려 피서 겸 이번에는 영화관에 갔다. 아들과 젊은이들이 추천해 줘서 “좀비 딸”을 보았다. 휴먼 드라마다. 좀비라고 해서 아내가 좀 무섭지 않을까 했는데 보고 나서 재미있었다, 한다. 오래전에, 10여 년 전에 본 좀비 영화 “부산행”이 생각나서인가 보다. 그때도 바이러스 때문에 일어난 사건을 다룬 영화였다.
“정체불명의 바이러스가 전국으로 확산되고 대한민국 긴급재난경보령이 선포된 가운데, KTX 열차에 몸을 실은 사람들은 단 하나의 안전한 도시 부산까지 살아가기 위한 치열한 사투를 벌이게 된다.” 는 박진감 넘치는 영화였다.
그때보다 이번 영화는 더 휴먼스토리다.
“나의 딸은 좀비다. 이 세상 마지막 남은 유일한 좀비”. 당국에서 좀비는 보는 즉시 사살하라는 명령을 내려보낸다. 여러분들이 자기 딸이 좀비라면 어떻게 할까?
It was the last days of summer, and the last of the summer heat was at its peak. So, to escape the heat, We went to the cinema. My son and some young people recommended "Zombie Daughter." It's a human drama. My wife was worried it might be a bit scary because it's about zombies, but she said it was entertaining. Perhaps it reminded her of the zombie movie "Train to Busan," which we saw a long time ago, over ten years ago. That movie also dealt with the events caused by a virus.
"As an unidentified virus spreads nationwide and a state of emergency is declared in South Korea, people on board the KTX train engage in a fierce struggle to survive and reach the only safe city in the country, Busan." It was a thrilling film.
This film is even more human than that.
"My daughter is a zombie. The last remaining zombie in the world." The authorities have issued orders to kill zombies on sight. What would you do if your daughter were a zombie?
이 영화에서는 댄스 열정을 불태우는 사춘기 딸(?) ‘수아’와 함께 티격태격 일상을 보내는 호랑이 전문 사육사 ‘정환’이 이야기가 손에 땀을 쥐게 하면서도 웃음을 연발시킨다. 어느 날 전 세계를 강타한 좀비 바이러스에 감염된 딸 '수아'를 지키기 위해 '정환'은 어머니 '밤순'이 사는 바닷가 마을 '은봉리'로 ‘수아’와 함께 향한다. 좀비가 발생하지 않은 유일한 바닷가 마을 은봉리에서 펼쳐지는 이야기가 눈물겹다. 무기 칼 다루듯이 효자손을 번개같이 휘두르는 밤순 할머니, 불행한 손녀와 아들을 지키기 위해 온갖 고생을 다 한다.
This film tells the story of a tiger keeper named Jeong-wan, who spends his bickering days with his teenage daughter(?) named Su-a who is passionate about dancing, and it is a story that will make you sweat while making you laugh. One day, in order to protect his daughter Su-a who has been infected with a zombie virus that has swept the world, Jeong-hwan heads with Su-a to Eunbong-ri, a seaside village where his mother Bam-soon lives. The story that unfolds in Eunbong-ri, the only seaside village free from zombie outbreaks, is tearjerking. Grandmother Bam-soon, who swings her back scratcher as if it were a sword, goes through all kinds of hardships to protect her unfortunate granddaughter and son.

“'좀비딸'은 좀비를 소재로 하지만 무섭기보단 유쾌하고 감동적이다. 극 전반에 흐르는 주요한 감정은 부성애다. 조정석 역시 인터뷰를 통해 "'좀비딸'이 아빠로서 내 안의 부성애를 끌어올렸다"고 밝힌 바 있다. 작품 속 정환(조정석)은 자신이 위험해질 수 있는 상황에서도 딸 수아(최유리)의 곁을 끝까지 지키고자 애썼다. 정환이 매 순간 목숨을 건 채로 고군분투하고, 딸이 인간으로 돌아올 수 있다는 희망이 생길 때마다 기대감을 품는 모습이 관객에게 뭉클함을 전했다.”
좀비 딸보다 더 귀여운 고양이, 애용이 역으로 진짜 고양이를 오디션을 통해 캐스팅해 리얼함을 높였다, 고한다.
감염자를 색출해 내려는 사회 분위기 속에서 '수아'가 어렴풋이 사람 말을 알아듣고, 평소 좋아하던 춤과 할머니 ‘밤순’의 따끔한 효자손 맛과 할머니와 화투놀이에 반응하는 모습을 발견한다. 절대 '수아'를 포기할 수 없는 '정환'은 호랑이 사육사의 오랜 경험을 살려 좀비 딸 트레이닝에 돌입한다. 기상천외한 발상이다. 맹수보다 사납고, 사춘기보다 예민한 좀비 딸을 어떻게 훈련시켜서 인간으로 되돌아 오게 할 수 있을까? 손에 땀이 난다.
다행히 정환이의 주위 인물이 처음에는 다들 좀비가 된 수아를 처리하고 싶어 하지만, 정환의 인간다움에 마음이 변해서 도와준다. 역시 어떤 재난이 닥쳐와다. 죽을 힘을 다해 최선을 다해 도전하면 그 위기를 극복할 수 있다. 좀비스러운 장면과 코미디가 어울려진 멋진 영화다. 말복 더위를 싹 날아가게 했다. 아직 보지 않은 친구들에게 강추하고 싶다.
전에 없이 무더운 이번 여름에는 1950년대 체코의 마라톤 선수, 인간기관차 <자토페크> 만화를 번역하다가 목디스크와 어깨디스크가 와서 고생 좀 했다. 그러나 시골 친구와 텃밭에서 어슬렁거리기, 제부도 바다에서 수영과 파도로 피서, 필드에서 서서하는 운동 중 가장 재미있는 운동으로 하루 보내기, 시원한 음악당에서 오페라 보기, 한가람 미술관에서 화려하고 시원한 푸른색의 마크 샤갈 전시회 보기, 오늘 영화관에서 영화 즐기기로 목 디스크를 극복하고 있다. 목디스크가 오면 이것저것 하면서 어슬렁거리며 무조건 쉬어야 한다.
